Terms and Conditions

1. Definitions

Event: Sahyadri Classic Cycle Race, 7th Edition, to be held on 6th December 2025 in and around Mahabaleshwar (date subject to change only in case of natural calamities or force majeure).

Organiser: Sahyadri Classic Organising Committee.

Participant: Any rider who has successfully registered and paid the entry fee.

Fee: Registration fee as per chosen category.

2. Participation Rules

  • The participant confirms that they are physically fit to ride and are aware of the risks of cycling on open roads and ghats.
  • Helmets are compulsory at all times during the race.
  • Front and rear lights are compulsory if riding between 6 am – 7 am and 6 pm – 7 pm.
  • Only bicycles in roadworthy condition are allowed. Bike checks may be done at registration.
  • Personal support vehicles are strictly not allowed. Hydration/technical support will be provided by the organisers only.
  • The race will be held on open public roads. Participants must ride responsibly, obey marshals, and watch out for vehicles, pedestrians, animals, and natural obstacles.
  • Participants must follow the official start times and cut-off times (to be announced on website/social media). Organisers may withdraw riders who do not meet cut-off times.
  • Riders under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent/guardian on race day.

3. Registration & Payment

  • Registration is only confirmed after full payment of the fee online.
  • Once a category is chosen, it cannot be changed. A new registration must be made if the participant wants to switch categories.
  • No bib transfers are allowed.

Refund Policy:

  •  In case of withdrawal, 80% of the fee will be refunded only if the request is submitted in writing/email at least 20 days before race day (before bib printing begins). 
  • No refunds for requests made within 10 days of the event.
  • No refunds for “no-shows” on race day. 
  • The fee is non-transferable and cannot be resold or given away.

4. Safety & Responsibility

  • Each participant rides at their own risk. The organiser, sponsors, partners, or volunteers are not responsible for any accident, injury, illness, loss, or damage during or related to the event.
  • Personal accident/medical insurance is the sole responsibility of the participant.
  • Participants must carry a government-approved photo ID at registration.
  • The organisers reserve the right to stop or disqualify any participant who rides dangerously, breaks rules, or endangers others.

5. Event Changes or Cancellation

  • The organisers may change the route, cut-off times, or even cancel the event if required due to weather, permissions, or safety concerns.
  • If the event is cancelled due to such reasons, participants will receive a refund (subject to organiser’s decision).
  • If the event format is changed (for example, reduced route), no refunds will be made.
  • If registrations for any category marked with an asterisk (*) are fewer than 7, that category will be merged with the category immediately above it.

6. Media & Publicity

  • By participating, riders agree that their photos, videos, race results, and personal likeness may be used by the organisers, sponsors, and partners for promotion of Sahyadri Classic and future events.
  • Participants cannot use event photos/videos for commercial purposes without organiser’s permission.

7. General Conditions

  • All instructions by organisers, marshals, and volunteers must be followed on race day. Their decision will be final.
  • The minimum age for participation is 18 years, except in the Junior category where parental presence is mandatory.
  • These terms are governed by the laws of Maharashtra, and any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of Satara/Mahabaleshwar courts.

8. Specially Abled Participants

  • The Sahyadri Classic encourages participation from differently-abled cyclists, with the following additional rules:
  • Eligibility: Any specially-abled person (visually impaired, dwarf, handicapped, or with other physical disabilities) may participate provided they are medically fit and cleared for endurance cycling.

Guardian/Support:

  • For visually impaired participants, participation is only permitted on a tandem cycle with a sighted pilot (guardian/support is compulsory).
  • For all other specially-abled riders, a guardian/support person is optional but recommended.
  • Separate Start: Specially-abled categories will have separate start times (to be announced), to ensure safety and smooth conduct of the event.

Safety Requirements: Helmets are compulsory. Any additional aids (prosthetics, adaptive cycles, handcycles, tricycles, etc.) must be safe and roadworthy.

Certificates:  A medical fitness certificate and disability certificate are required at the time of registration.

Responsibility:  The participant (and, if applicable, the tandem pilot/guardian) is responsible for ensuring safe riding and compliance with all race rules.

Insurance:  Personal accident/medical insurance remains the responsibility of the participant.

Organiser’s Discretion: The organisers reserve the right to deny participation if safety standards are not met or if the participant is deemed unfit to ride.
