The Race

Why Sahyadri Classic Exists.

A race built on the same roads that have shaped Maharashtra’s toughest climbers for a generation.

The origin

It Started With Three Friends and a Bad Idea.

In 2019, three cyclists from Pune rode from the base of the Sahyadris to the plateau above Mahabaleshwar, unsupported, on a dare. It took them eleven hours, two flat tyres, and a monsoon downpour they never saw coming. They came down convinced that if it nearly broke them, it deserved a start line.

Sahyadri Classic is that ride, formalised: marshalled, timed, medically supported, and opened to every rider willing to test themselves against the same climbs.

Our mission

Test the Rider. Never Break the Mountain.

KM 00

Honest Terrain

No inflated numbers. Every metre of elevation on the course is measured, mapped, and real.

KM 42

Respect the Range

We run a leave-no-trace event in partnership with local forest and tourism authorities.

KM 90

Access for Every Rider

Six categories mean a first-time climber and a national-level racer both have a start line here.

What makes it different

This Isn't a Fondo. It's a Mountain Reckoning.

• Genuine ghat climbs with sustained gradients, not rolling hills dressed up as mountains
• Hard timed cut-offs at every aid station
• Zero support vehicles allowed on course
• A finish line at altitude with a view that makes every switchback worth it
