SAFETY AND MEDICAL
Self-supported doesn’t mean unsupported. The Sahyadri Classic is built on rider self-reliance, but we back every climb with a safety net riders can count on when it matters.
Medical Coverage
Ambulances are stationed at the start and finish of every ghat. Beyond that, this is a self-supported race — riders are expected to carry basic supplies and judgement to handle minor issues themselves before help arrives.
Aid Stations
Two aid stations on every ghat provide hydration and nutrition. Mechanical support is available only at the race hub — plan your repairs accordingly, because there’s no roadside fix crew waiting for you.
Course Support
Volunteers are stationed at fixed points along the route, with additional marshals patrolling to keep the race honest and riders on course.
Mandatory Safety Gear
Helmets are compulsory — ride without one and you’re disqualified, no exceptions. Lights are mandatory between 5:30 AM–7:00 AM and from 6:00 PM onwards. Riding without lights during these hours also means disqualification.
Weather Contingency
The Sahyadris don’t follow a forecast. In the event of extreme weather, race protocol may be adjusted for rider safety — details will be communicated as needed.
